Term 1

Well this term has been interesting , as a dancer in this term i have had lots of ups and downs , it has been really hard but i do think me and , the rest of the class have handeld it well.

 The thing i need to focus on in class is my alignnent of my body and my posture as i did street dance from a earley age i tend to slouch and lift my shoulder up to my ears. This 

The thing i did well on this term was to strengthen my core i think i need a bit more work but i have definitely strengthand my core muscles at the beggining of the term i couldent really hold my body in the correct elingement and now i really think i have inproved yeah , it still needs a lot more work but i an proud that i have made improvements.

Over all , i have enjoyed my time in term 1 and cant wait until the 2nd half.

Training Exercise

Personally I think I need to improve on my core strength, developing my core strength will also help my posture which I also need to improve on.
So to do this I need to do the following:
. In the morning go for a run preferbley 30-40minuets 
. 100 Sit ups per day morning and afternoon
. Plank for a minnute (repeat 8 times)
. 200 crunchies morning and night
. Side plank on left and right (to develope this move and make it harder you can rotate you hips) 
. To end the cycle do a silmple strech



This week

This week with Andrea ,we focused on what we will be doing in our settling in evening, we did all exercises, including swing exersise. We focused on the lining of our body and I dynamics I think this is good because I really need to work on my dynamics and core strength.

Firstly we did our warmup after that we went straight into routines and dance exercises the first exercise we did was the swing exercise andrea also really focus on the alignment of our feet and I dynamics which I need to work on.

After this we did our solo routine we learnt a little bit more it went really well.
 I think what I need to improve on is keeping my shoulders down witch is my posture. Unlike others I tend to raise my shoulders I need to get out of that habit.
Andrea helped us with our core strength as well we did plank situps and press ups.

After that we had Jodi she helped us with our dance training skills we did situps press ups and plank also she did stretch exercises  to help splits this helped our whole body. When we started to do jazz We started with the pirowett corner exercise , in this exersise i really need to focus on my spotting really whipping my haid round.

After that we learned a new routine it was quite fast and very dynamically coordinated I really enjoyed it but the one thing I can work on in this routine is hitting all the right moves in time with the music.

Jazz Extra Curriculum , Core Strength

On Fridays i am doing extra curriculum,dance i am really enjoying it and i find it really fun.i think doing extra curriculum dance is really good because it can boost my confidence in class as well. We do a vary of things like floor work, corner work and routines. Sometime we do stuff which is related to things in my lesson. last friday we focused on the warm-up and corner work. Also, we did a jazz routine, which involved different techniques. I think in class i need to concentrate on improving the lining of my body and keeping my shoulders down, however i think i am putting in a lot of effort.

At home i have been stretching and conditioning as well as at school. In two and a half weeks i have lost three pounds. i have been doing this because as a dancer i need to be fit, healthy and toned.

To be a healthy successful dancer you need to have a core strength, because everything always comes back to your strength , for example being able to hold the right alinement in your, body and having good dynamics.

Mee



Hey my name is Brett,and i am in dance strand at the BRIT School.
Attending the BRIT School has been my dream ever since i was 8, i have allways knew that dancing was going to be my life and i worked inccredibley hard and my dream came true.

I have been performing from a young age of 6, I have done things like pantomime, charity events , compatitions in a troup duo and solo and i have won, several awards in each.
Also i have danced on tv shows for example  i have danced , on chanel 4 on a show called, KOKO POPS this was dancing to new celebraty music me and my troup danced to people like tio cruz lady gaga N,dubs ext. Also i did gymnastics for 8 years, i attended at croydon school of gymnastics and competed in a vary of competitions and won.

People sometimes ask me who inspired you to dance but, No one person inspired me to dance i have been taken to ballets , Musicals and theatre shows since the age of 5 ever since then i knew i wanted to be one the performers on stage , and ever since, it has been my passion to dance and perform.

At a early age of 6 i did panto and i have done that ever since, i started at star dance academy in 2005 and i went unti 2011 and  i did compatitions in street dance and loads of shows , then i moved on to a more advanced dance company as i felt i grew out of star dance so i auditioned for ZOONATION and i have been there 2 years and i am in inter 3andvanced we have done 3 shows now and we are rehursing for are new christmas, show. I also have done ballet and contempary classes at a company called shirley cox.
This year i wad in a show called ' RIOT OFFSPRING it was a amazing opportunity, to be abe to perform on the main stage at , sadlers wells. The show was for Stravinsky 
100 anniversary and i was honerd to be involve in the whole function.

I believe, that to achieve goals as a dancer, you have to be committed and enthusiastic, have good team working skills, a dancer should also be hard-working energetic, confidence and resilient. A Dancer needs to be creative and adaptable, flexible and always behave in a professional manner.

Todays Dance Class With Andrea

Today with Andrea we did contemporary one of the skills we use today was agility, agility means going in and out of the floor, we do that quite a lot in contemporary it's about how fluid The transition using the energy out of the floor, how it's absorbed into the floor. Today we also focus on our balance and core stability.

In the lesson first of all we started with the Warm up which included, running raising our heartbeat and some core exercises.

Firstly we went straight into are exercises and routine from the previous lesson, First routinely did was the swing exercise routine this went really well we had time to go over it with our partners, to sharpen it up we worked on our core balance and our dynamics and we had to really push ourselves and stretch ourselves out of our Comfort zone.
After this we did the routine which is dance to a song called night air Jamie Woon.
This is a really strong piece you really push ourselves to the limit there are lots of different formations.
After this we went into our solo
Which we learnt in the preview  lesson this is danced to a song called Freedom Anthony Hamilton and ElenaBoynton.
This is a really strong piece  with a lot  of jumps and different dynamics and the lining in our body has to be perfect. We perform this in small groups of eight so we have the chance to watch each other and correct each other also we had a chance to watch each other and get inspiration through each other, I really enjoy watching everybody dance because it gives me a chance to say I need to focus on doing is better and also I can actually talk to them and say you're doing is wrong and maybe I could help them out, because to be a good dancer you need to communicate with your fellow dancers, and help each other out.

After school today I went to the studio, and rehursted all the things I learnt in class, because I felt like I needed to improve in my dynamics and lining of my body so I did some conditioning and then worked on the routines and exercises we did in class, I feel like I do need more work in jazz and contemporary but I feel like with the amazing teachers that we have jodie and andrea I will become better in contemporary technique in jazz technique and develop my dancing skills.
